First you need a decal converter, there's one available from this site...
http://www.cstrike-planet.com/files/28Assuming you already have a picture that you want as a custom spray, follow these steps to make it work in CS:1.6 or CS:CZ.
1 ) Open Decal Converter and load your picture.
2 ) The image will appear on the right hand side, use the drop down boxes to change the size of the image. I have found the image is clearer if you leave the image on the size the decal converter chooses for you. If the picture just looks silly in the auto size then feel free to change it, the decal converter will let you know by highlighting the drop down box in red if the size is not right.
3 ) Go to Decal options then click "make decal".
4 ) Save the decal you have made to your desktop.
5 ) It will be named pldecal.wad. Rename the pldecal.wad file to tempdecal.wad
6 ) Locate your game directory ( usually C:> Program Files > Steam > Steamapps > "yoursteamID" > Condition Zero > Czero)
7 ) Delete the custom.hpk file.
8 ) Put the "tempdecal.wad" file you have made into the czero folder and overwrite the previous file, if it does not overwrite please see the troubleshooter below.
9 ) Right click the tempdecal.wad file, select properties and check the box next to "read only". Click apply.
10 ) Go onto a server and test your new spray but be aware some servers do not allow custom sprays. All TTD servers allow them so try it out on one of them.
**PLEASE NOTE**
If you access the spray section of the in game options, it will automatically wipe your tempdecal.wad and replace it with the HL logo. If this happens you will have to make the tempdecal.wad file again and put it back into the czero folder.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If it does not ask you to overwrite the previous tempdecal.wad file in your Czero folder, one of two things needs to be done...
a) Check to see if there are two temdecal files in your czero folder, one named
tempdecal and another named
tempdecal.wad. If there is, delete the one called
tempdecal then rename the
tempdecal.wad file to just
tempdecal.
b) Your computer may rename a duplicate file instead of overwriting the old one. Check to see if there are two tempdecal files in your czero folder, one named
tempdecal.wad and another named
tempdecal.wad.wad. If there is, delete the
tempdecal.wad and rename the
tempdecal.wad.wad to just
tempdecal.wad.
If you still have problems, just post a reply and I will be happy to help.
